We know that Martha Coakley is the clear choice for re-election.  We trust what she stands for because we know her 25-year record – prosecuting criminals, recovering taxpayer money, defending our rights, and protecting consumers.

If you’re in the Boston area, please join supporters for a Debate Watch Party starting at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at Red Hat (9 Bowdoin Street, Boston).

We hope you’ll watch and support Martha!

Take a Look

We wanted to share a short video clip with you today.  Martha has an old pair of running shoes she’s dusted off for the campaign trail this year, for running in parades and knocking doors. Her friends have dubbed them  as you’ll see why – her "Campbell’s Soup Shoes!"Take a look:

Martha’s already put quite a few miles on those shoes this year, with a lot more to come. And everywhere she goes, we hear from people that she’s the person they trust to lead the Attorney General’s Office and to stand up for them.

Please join Martha at a campaign stop near you.  Join us this weekend in Framingham, Holliston, Ashland, Yarmouth or New Bedford. If you can’t join, but still want to help – just sign up to volunteer and we’ll be in touch about future events.

A Message from Martha: The Campaign Ahead

Thank you for your support in Tuesday’s primary election. I’m proud to be your nominee for re-election as Attorney General and I’m looking forward to the campaign ahead. As we begin, I want to take a moment to speak directly with you as a friend and supporter.

At the AG’s Office, we work every single day to stand up for you and for the Commonwealth in the face of unfairness. We listen to what the people of this state are asking for from us, and I want to share with you how we respond.

Marlborough paradeYou want your children and your family to be safe – online, at school and in your neighborhood and we take action to challenge online sites like Craigslist, confront bullying and cyber-bulling, and provide summer jobs for teens.

You are fed up with fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars – and we go squarely after corruption, prosecuting unemployment fraud, and recovering more than $100 million in our Medicaid system.  For every $1 in budget funding my office receives, we return $5 back to taxpayers and consumers.

You want someone to stand up for the middle class during this economic crisis.  We’ve recovered over $440 million from big banks and Wall Street for consumers, keeping 15,000 people in their homes, and we are challenging unfair rate hikes by big gas and electric companies.

And, you want your government to stand for fairness and we successfully challenged the Defense of Marriage Act, standing up for the civil rights of all.

It is a real privilege and a serious responsibility to serve as the Attorney General and to represent you, and the campaign I’m running will reflect that.  I hope you’ll join me this fall to discuss where we’ve come, what’s important to you, and how we can take on even more in the next four years.

With Best Wishes,

Martha Coakley

Neighborhood Conversations with Martha

Recently Martha has begun a series of Neighborhood Conversations, visiting people at house parties and other community events across the Commonwealth. These house parties are informal gatherings where Martha has an opportunity meet members of the community and answer their questions and hear their ideas and concerns.

Neighborhood Conversation in Dorchester

Last week, Martha made visits to house parties in Reading and the South End , as well as to a candidates’ forum organized by the Auburn Council on Aging at the Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center in Auburn. This week Martha has visited homes in Worcester and Dorchester, with more stops planned in Haverhill and Peabody before the week is through. The response to these Neighborhood Conversations has been excellent. Visitors have asked thoughtful questions and engaged in spirited dialogue with Martha about issues such as the economy, jobs, gun control, and many others.

More Neighborhood Conversations will continue throughout the Fall, and Martha wants to visit your community. If you are interested in hosting a Neighborhood Conversations, email us at conversations@marthacoakley.com, or give us a call at 617-241-0200. Stay tuned to our Events Calendar for the latest updates.
